This role is an Australian based fully work from home position.
About The Role
We’re seeking a highly motivated Research and Policy Officer to support our commitment to advancing the accessibility and acceptance of medicinal cannabis in Australia. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in conducting research, developing policy initiatives, and executing government relations strategies, ultimately contributing to the growth and success of Montu and our patients.
- Campaign Planning and Execution
- Develop and maintain a Yearly Campaign Calendar to strategically balance government relations, brand, and educational objectives.
- Ensure lead time for all cross-functional departments, from Operations (ordering products) to Tech (implementing new features for campaigns).
- Think Big - We are already doing numerous campaigns so your job is to ideate and augment what we are already doing, to evolve our campaign executions.
- You will create integrated marketing campaigns tailored to specific market segments, aiming to acquire new patients and retain existing ones to drive commercial objectives. You will also create campaigns driving brand equity and awareness and furthering our reach within the medical cannabis industry, and further develop our strategic relationships (IE Chronic Pain Australia non-profit).
- You will work with cross-functional stakeholders to forecast campaign results, manage business impacts, maintain exceptional patient experiences, and drive key performance indicators. Forecasts are critical to inform demand planning for other business units as well as make the right commercial decisions on campaigns between discount levels or products on offer.
- Collaborate with the brand and creative teams to create effective and engaging campaign content, including the development of campaign briefs and review of final creative execution
- Government Relations and Advocacy
- Support the Government Relations Manager in maintaining relationships with government officials, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyse legislative and regulatory changes which impact the medicinal cannabis sector.
- Under supervision, draft policy proposals, position papers, and briefings to influence policymakers.
- Assist with advocacy for policies that support the medicinal cannabis industry's growth and sustainability.
- Develop and execute advocacy campaigns.
- Research and Analysis
- Source relevant and up-to-date information and conduct analysis sufficient to provide data-driven recommendations on positions relevant to medicinal cannabis in Australia.
- Utilise data and research to guide strategic policy decisions.
- Under supervision, research and draft policy proposals, position papers and briefings for consumption by experts within Montu and within the broader medicinal cannabis industry
- Assist with cultivating and maintaining relationships with patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and the broader community.
- Collaborate with the company's marketing team to design and execute effective community engagement and social media campaigns.
- Mobilise support for policy changes through meaningful community engagement.
- Measure and increase public support for the company's policy initiatives.
About You
- 5+ years experience in a policy, public advocacy, community engagement,
- Proven success in designing and implementing community engagement campaigns focused on policy issues end to end.
- Solid understanding of government structure and government operations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the proven ability to impart complex and technical information to a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
- Bonus if you are currently working for an industry group or body
- Ability to travel domestically for work-related purposes up to once per month for potentially up to a week at a time.
- Exceptional research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in using data and research to drive policy development.
- Knowledge of the Australian healthcare landscape.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
