Consulate Staff - Political Section
About the role
We are seeking a candidate to fill full-time (locally engaged) staff position in the Political Section at the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney. The employee will perform a wide range of administrative duties. The position is based in the Sydney CBD and does not include working-from-home arrangements.
Duties
- Daily monitoring and reporting of the news
- Conducting research on various topics as requested
- Arranging delegation visits
- Maintaining contact with and arranging visits to sister cities
- Organising events
- Answering enquiries from the public
- Other duties as directed, including administrative support tasks
Skills & experience
- University degree required (political science major preferred)
- Strong writing and fluent English skills are essential
- Good understanding of NSW politics (and NT politics, desirable)
- High level proficiency in word processing, email applications and database maintenance (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Japanese skills are desirable but not essential
Requirements for the position
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency (Japanese citizens with Australian permanent residential status are not qualified for this position)
