The Role
Are you a creative thinker? Do you like to solve problems? Are you interested in Defence operations?

We are looking for a number of motivated analysts and programmers to join our multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers and academic partners to understand, analyse and deliver analytical solutions to support Defence, in particular Navy capabilities.

In your role as an System Analyst/Programmer, you will be applying your creative, analytical skills in scoping, designing and implementing technical solutions/systems to answer the challenging Navy workforce planning and forecasting questions.

Longer term, you will have opportunities to work on other equally interesting and challenging Defence projects.

About our Team
We are a large team of Defence scientists with varying technical background, come together to deliver impartial advice and innovative solutions to the Australian Defence Force. As part of the Defence Science and Technology Group, we are based in Fishermans Bend in Victoria. We work with clients from Navy, Army and Airforce, around Australia. You will have opportunities to travel and work directly with our clients, as well as collaborate with University researchers and international partners.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who possess strong analytical skills, be creative problem solvers, have attention to detail, and be able to interpret and communicate information with clarity and influence. Applicants should have broad, demonstrable knowledge or experience across one or more relevant areas including:

  • Programming languages, such as Python, Java or JavaScript;
  • Develop and effectively present design proposals;
  • Methods, tools and techniques used in the analysis and design stages of systems development;
  • Systems modelling and simulation;
  • Mathematical and statistical modelling and analysis;
  • Operations analysis methods.

Our ideal candidate would have a relevant degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, applied physics, mechanical or systems engineering. This role would be suited to a recent graduate.
