About our Team
The XO is the conduit for the daily management of Brigade requirements with Headquarters Australian Army Cadet in Canberra. The XO will manage the two permanent APS staff in the Headquarters, and work alongside a Regular Army operations manager and/or a Regular Army Adjutant. The XO will work to the Regional Commander’s direction and priorities. The Headquarters is staffed by Army Reserve personnel managing the functions of operations, personnel, training and logistics working under the direction of the Deputy Commander (DCOMD).
The Brigade also consists of Army Cadet Staff (ACS), who are the adult volunteer group that delivers the youth development program. ACS wear a military uniform but are not required to hold military qualifications. The Cadets range from the age of 13, when they enter the AAC, to 18, when they ‘retire’ from the program. The XO will have ongoing and frequent interaction with all of these groups within the Brigade, including interaction with Cadets during key activities and events. Given our team incudes part time and full time staff, flexibility and responsiveness are key to maintaining contact with elements of the HQs and ACS who parade at different times throughout the week.
