Kidney Health Australia was established in 1968 as the Australian Kidney Foundation. We are not-for-profit organisation recognised as the voice for kidney health in Australia. We drive awareness and early detection of kidney disease through the delivery of high impact programs and services and are dedicated to improving health outcomes and quality of life for people living with kidney disease, their families, and carers.
First Nations Peoples experience disproportionate levels of kidney disease, regardless of whether their locality is urban, regional or rural. Alice Springs has the highest recorded rates of kidney failure per capita in the world. Kidney Health Australia is embarking on a new program of work and are committed to working with community to improve outcomes for First Nations Peoples living with kidney disease.
About the Role
This position of Program Manager - First Nations Kidney Health is a new position that has been created to lead Kidney Health Australia's work in First Nations kidney health. This role will involve extensive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, Traditional Owners, Indigenous Communities and health service providers to these Peoples, and will also play a key role internally at Kidney Health Australia in providing advice and expertise on First Nations culture and considerations to our broader team and programs
The incumbent will further develop and lead Kidney Health Australia's First Nations kidney health program, which will have a strong focus on identification, early detection and prevention of progression of kidney disease in First Nations Peoples and communities, with a view to delaying or stopping progression towards kidney failure.
It will require effective program development, project management skills, strategic ability and excellent stakeholder engagement skills, internally and externally.

It is essential that you have:
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations Peoples and organisations delivering health services to First Nations Peoples.
- Demonstrated program development and project management experience with the ability to prioritise and organise work and meet critical timelines.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects with the input of multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence and work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated skills in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
