Anti-carbon tax ad campaign starts
Industry and business groups have launched the first volley of a new anti-carbon tax advertising campaign.
The Australian Trade and Industry Alliance has launched the first print media advertisements across the country in a bid to counter the Federal Government’s planned $23 per tonne carbon tax.
In an interview with the ABC, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief Peter Anderson defended the choice to start the campaign, saying that industry groups were ensuring that the public has access to all available information.
"What we're doing is making sure that the public are aware of facts and information ... so that they themselves can form a view," Mr Anderson said.
"The business community needs to express clearly to government and the parliament the concerns that exist because they're real concerns.
"They relate not just to businesses, but they also relate to jobs, job security and the impact on households."
Mr Anderson criticised the Government’s attempt to implement the tax, saying that Australia was out of step with major industrialized countries.
The alliance is looking to spend up to $10 million in its campaigns against the tax across television, print and the internet.
