Australia joins G20 'troika'
Australia has taken its place at the G20 ‘troika’, joining Mexico and Russia on the group of past, present and future chairs that manages the G20.
As part of the group, Australia will play a key role in guiding the G20’s work in the lead-up to the country’s G20 Presidency in 2014.
To mark the occasion, the Prime Minister has written to the President of Russia, Mr Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on taking over the G20 chair, and looking forward to a close working relationship leading up to the leaders' summit in St Petersburg in September 2013.
The Prime Minister has also written and congratulated Mexico's new President, Mr Enrique Pena Nieto, on his inauguration and Mexico's achievements as G20 host in 2012.
