The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has opened the Forestry Industry Database (FID) with an aim to display the industry’s data and statistics to the public.

The publically available database will contain information and analytical breakdowns of the industry’s skills, employment statistics and training as well as future industry structure projection modelling; sectoral profiles; and wood flow statistics.

“The database was developed to understand the requirements of different sectors of the forestry industry in relations to skills, training and staff recruitment and retention, and model trends within sectors and geographical regions,” said John Talbot, General Manager of the Forestry Branch at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

“It also helps industry understand key areas of shortages or growth to assist in investment decisions, and any skills and training gaps to identify what the industry currently has and what it needs to meet future demand and growth,” Mr Talbot said.

The information is available on the Forestry Industry Database website here
