Federal public servants to strike
Commonwealth public servants are planning to strike in over 40 sites in the coming days after pay disputes continue to stall.
More than 70,000 public servants from the ATO, Defence, Customs and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) have rejected the latest pay package from the Federal Government.
Unacceptably low pay and conditions in the enterprise agreement have been overwhelmingly voted against, with DAFF employees set to commence industrial action to discuss the lack of progress with respect to their bargaining negotiations.
The move by DAFF could result in delays in passenger processing at international airports and other import and export sectors.
"Despite months of talks, DAFF staff are still being asked to accept a pay agreement that will not keep up with the rising cost of living," Nadine Flood from the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) told the ABC.
