Clean technologies developer, Dr Marc Newson, has been appointed as the Federal Government's Clean Technologies Supplier Advocate.

 

Announcing the appointment, the Minister for Industry and Innovation, Greg Combet, said Dr Newson has extensive experience in working with clean technology businesses in the manufacturing sector, and has held senior roles with leading consulting firms like Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

 

Dr Newson will work with local manufacturers to develop and showcase their clean technology capabilities. He will assist in developing business plans through the Australian Clean Technologies Ideas Competition, and implement development strategies in the lighting and waste sectors.

 

"In addition to Dr Newson's appointment, we are pleased to announce the reappointment of Mr Bruce Griffiths and Mr John Gaskin in their roles as the Rail and Built Environment Supplier Advocates," Senator Carr said.

 

"Mr Griffith has been instrumental in bringing industry together to undertake important activities crucial to the development of the rail industry.

 

"Mr Gaskin has assisted Australian businesses in putting their best foot forward to participate in major projects. His work with the glass and windows industries to promote their capabilities to domestic and international customers is just one example."

 

The Supplier Advocate Program is a part of the $50 million Buy Australian initiative.
