Government establishes Urban Policy Forum
The Federal Government has announced the formation of a new Urban Policy Forum aimed at providing stakeholder advice on the future development of cities.
The Forum brings together experts from across all levels of government as well as industry and academia, including the former South Australian Premier Mike Rann, former Deputy Prime Minister Brian Howe AO, current head of the Local Government Association Genia McCaffery, and the Deputy Chief Executive of the Business Council of Australia Maria Tarrant.
The forum will be chaired by Secretary of the Department of Infrastructure and Transport Mike Mrdak, with its central role will be to advise the Federal Government on the implementation of the National Urban Policy.
The Forum will maintain the spirit of collaboration fostered during in the development of the Creating Places for People urban design protocol for Australian cities, which is now being championed by 35 high-profile government, industry and community organisations.
