The Federal Government’s new Illawarra Stakeholder Taskforce has held its first meeting. The taskforce, which was formed to help coordinate the Government’s services for the workers impacted by Bluescope’s restructure, will investigate the future of the region.

 

Federal Member for Cunningham, Ms Sharon Bird, said the Taskforce today began to bring forward locally identified issues and to build on existing community mechanisms to inform the response to the BlueScope Steel workforce transition.

 

"It will also support the implementation of the existing medium term economic development strategy for the Illawarra," Ms Bird said.
