Mr Peter Harris has been appointed as the new Chair of the Productivity Commission. Mr Harris will take up the position on 11 March 2013 for a period of 5 years. He will take over from Gary Banks who was Chairman of the Productivity Commission since its inception in 1998 until December 2012.

 

Mr Harris is currently serving as Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. He has previously served as Secretary of the Victorian Government agencies responsible for Sustainability and the Environment, Primary Industries and Public Transport.

 

Deputy Chairman Mike Woods is the Acting Chairman in the interim period.
