About the role

We are seeking a candidate to fill full-time (locally engaged) staff position in the Political Section at the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney. The employee will perform a wide range of administrative duties. The position is based in the Sydney CBD and does not include working-from-home arrangements.

Duties

  • Daily monitoring and reporting of the news
  • Conducting research on various topics as requested
  • Arranging delegation visits
  • Maintaining contact with and arranging visits to sister cities
  • Organising events
  • Answering enquiries from the public
  • Other duties as directed, including administrative support tasks

Skills & experience

  • University degree required (political science major preferred)
  • Strong writing and fluent English skills are essential
  • Good understanding of NSW politics (and NT politics, desirable)
  • High level proficiency in word processing, email applications and database maintenance (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Japanese skills are desirable but not essential

Requirements for the position

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency (Japanese citizens with Australian permanent residential status are not qualified for this position)
