The Collection Management Branch is responsible for setting information management requirements for Australian Government agencies, and selecting, managing and preserving the National Archives’ collection so it remains accessible for future generations. The Branch develops policies and systems as well as provides services, undertakes research, and plans and implements projects relating to the care, management and accessibility of archival records.
This position is responsible for carrying out duties associated with the preservation and digitisation of analogue motion picture film materials held in the Sydney Office of the National Archives. The position of Motion Picture Film Preservation Officer requires excellent attention to detail and a capacity to handle, repackage and store motion picture film items to approved standards. An understanding of audio-visual analogue and film production paths and digitisation practices is highly desirable. A background in motion picture film production and post production and/or film archives is highly desirable. Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable. Experience with a Digital Asset Management System or digital media files is essential.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1.
