EL1 Assistant Director Strategy

About the Client:

Our client is a large Government agency tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Currently seeking for an experienced EL1 Assistant Director Strategy for a 12-month casual temporary assignment.

About the role:
The EL1 Assistant Director Strategy position will be responsible for analysis and insight development contributing to strategy development, policies, priorities and operational practices. It will be required to coordinate and assume responsibility for highly complex, sensitive projects or work programs.
The Division embeds co-design and a stakeholder-view of change into our ways of working, ensuring that our designs represent the greatest value to different audiences. In line with the Participant Service Charter principles, the Division drives transparency into Agency decision-making through the consistency of the processes we design, the written guidance and communication.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering and developing structured insights and recommendations for strategic projects.
  • Developing fact based quantitative and qualitative analysis including modelling in Microsoft Excel.
  • Creating materials for senior internal and external stakeholders, including the Minister, Board and Executive Leadership Team to communicate perspectives, recommendations and implications for the Agency.
  • Presenting recommendations and facilitating discussions with a range of Agency stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Developing action plans and ensuring stakeholder alignment to enable successful implementation.
  • Developing content to embed change, including authorship of policy papers and guidance materials.
  • Collaborating with and supporting business areas to structure problems, inform options and drive solutions and Agency-wide priorities

Desirable skills to have for the role/s:

  • Minimum of two years in strategy development.
  • Track record of significant contribution to strategic projects that deliver insightful and actionable recommendations
  • Experience working in complex cross-functional teams
  • Established personal toolkit to cut through organisational complexity and ambiguity
  • Emotional intelligence in working with stakeholders and leaders at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience of living with disability desirable
