CSIRO’s Reinvent Science program is finding ways to revolutionise science through digital technologies. This programs Senior Product Manager has a deep understanding of CSIRO’s Reinvent Science Program’s vision and objectives, ecosystem of stakeholders, and frameworks for progressing ideas from concept to impact.

As the successful applicant you will use your broad range of skills, technical and domain knowledge and wide networks to identify high-value market/customer problems in areas which are of strategic importance to Data61. You will also be responsible for developing product strategies and roadmaps for selected opportunities. In areas where Data61 prioritises investment in product and platform development, you will work closely with the research and development teams developing and piloting Minimum Viable Product (MVPs) while achieving any other outcomes which support the relevant commercial strategy.

Your duties will include:

  • As a senior member of the product team, develop and execute product strategy in partnership with science and technology counterparts.
  • Event engagement & speaking to promote your product and/or Data61
  • Build collaborative relationships and influence
  • Product leadership and advisory
  • Communicate openly, effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.
  • Adhere to the spirit and practice of CSIRO’s Code of Conduct, Health, Safety and Environment plans and policies, Diversity initiatives and Zero Harm goals.
  • Other duties as directed.
     

Location: Any of the following Data61 sites are suitable as a base location: Herston or Dutton Park (QLD), Eveleigh (NSW), Black Mountain (CBR), Clayton (VIC)
Salary: AU $141,949 to AU $157,055 pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

To be appointed you will have:

  • A university degree plus at least eight years’ experience in product management, with a demonstrated track record of taking ideas from concept to market to achieve business outcomes and solve customer problems in a range of complex product areas.
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of CSIRO’s Reinvent Science Program’s vision and objectives, ecosystem of stakeholders, and frameworks for progressing ideas from concept to impact.
  • Growth mindset.
  • Passion for solving real world problems with science and technology.
  • A bias towards action / getting things done with high self-motivation and ability to work in a large matrix organisation.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams to build alignment and achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders in complex environments to build alignment on vision and direction.
  • Ability to manage periods of change, uncertainty and conflict.

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Managed a product portfolio or complex product
  • Held a senior product position with people leadership

Eligibility
