The Role
Some of the key duties of the APS 5 ICT Service Manager role are:

  • Provide on-call support for a week at a time on a scheduled rotation in support of ICT Operations
  • Resolve complex data processing issues
  • Design and implement data synchronisation tasks that span LDAP and SQL to support Defence’s business units
  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders to gather requirements in support of new data synchronisation requests
  • Raise and review technical documentation
  • Scripting, LDAP/Directory and Database related tasks
  • Web development using .Net technologies.

In addition to the above duties the APS 6 ICT Service Manager role are:

  • Manage workflows and resources
  • Prepare work areas and detail team plans
  • Manage staff professional development.

About our Team
The Certificate and Directory Management Centre (CDMC) are the authoritative section in Defence for Identity Management of personnel for all of Defence’s ICT Systems and networks. CDMC services are provided through a “middleware layer” that integrates a range of systems from Active Directory, bespoke authentication repositories and databases.

The Data and Directory Management section is responsible for maintaining the servers, applications and infrastructure that supports Defence’s current Identity Management system and Integration services. These services rely on a core Data Synchronisation Engine application and Microsoft SQL Server along with a range of scripts and programs for data processing. The services provided ensure that the whole of Defence maintains a unified capability for email, VOIP and access control.

Our Ideal Candidate
CDMC is seeking highly motivated individuals to deliver support in a highly technical and complex data environment. Due to the broad range of support provided to Defence, these positions require the applicant to have one or more skill sets with a desire and capacity to expand into the other technologies or skills:

  • Solid system administration expertise on Windows and RHEL
  • Scripting or programming knowledge such as Powershell, bash, Java, C#, Javascript and Perl
  • Directory (LDAP) knowledge, both server and client,
  • Databases (MS SQL).
