The Role
The ISLO has a deep understanding of Defence’s ICT equipment and systemsinfrastructure. They are required to have a high understanding ofexisting cryptologic devices and be able to perform configuration modifications on request. Additionally, the ISLO is required to fault find and repair connection issues that arise within the base network. Further, the ISLO ensures the security of the Regiment’s secure areas; including server rooms, SCIFs and high-side infrastructure.
They also maintain T4 requirements to keep building works within specifications and uphold existing accreditation. In support of security functions, the ISLO also provides the knowledge of Data Transfer SOPs within the ISM, denying cyber-attack vectors, preventing data spills andensuring correct handling of classified information.
The ISLO has a requirement to maintain a high understanding of military and public infrastructure that is necessary to support high-side network continuity. Without an ISLO within the unit, 7 Signal Regiment would be unable to meet the requirement of a dedicated role outlined in the Information Security Manual (ISM). Further, the ISLO facilitates the systems infrastructure that directly enables SIGINT activities at the operational level. The ability to provide network availability alsoextends to support training at DFSSEW within Borneo Barracks
About our Team
7th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) is the Australia Army’s Electronic Warfare (EW) unit. They provide EW, signals intelligence (SIGINT) and cyberspace capabilities to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), both on operations and during exercises.
The unit consists of five sub-units, all of which provide unique effects. The advertised position will be employed within one of these sub-units and is a critical enabler to the entire unit. The position provides ICT support to deploying and deployed EW elements wherever they are within Australia or abroad to ensure security and information advantage in any context.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal Candidate will have a strong background in ICT networks and security, with demonstrable skills in network management, maintenance and architecture, such as to be considered a Subject Matter Expert.
They will be able to demonstate a strong work ethic and show familiarity with Government Security policy.
They will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work within a team environment, interacting with APS, ADF and other government orcontractor staff, with the ability to respond to short notice, high priority tasking and the ability to develop innovative solutions inaccordance with policy frameworks.
They will have demonstrably strong oral and written communications skills and will be comfortable in providing briefings, guidance and advice to supervisors, visitors and peers, with particular focus on Security and Security policy and procedures
