The Role
Within the Defence Graduate and Entry Level Programs Directorate’s (the Directorate) program delivery function an APS5 Program Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform complex transactional, procedural, operational and administrative work within an integrated workforce. They are responsible for understanding government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements and complying with relevant legislative frameworks. 

As an APS 5 Program Officer you may be required to supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and staff performance. Under direction from the Program Manager, you will review and develop the quality of work undertaken by others in the team.  This position is key in supporting the Assistant Director and Director to achieve our business objectives.

As Program Officer your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:         

  • Supporting and contributing to the development of policies and procedures to support participant or graduate experience ·         
  • Liaising and collaborating with key stakeholders, both internally and externally to increase awareness of Defence’s Graduate and Entry Level programs
  • Planning and assisting the Program Manager to facilitate events and workshops-both internally and externally to promote entry level pathways into Defence         
  • Gathering client and stakeholder feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Supporting the team to ensure Defence standards, processes and policies are understood and upheld by Program participants
  • Assisting the Program Manager to develop and maintain a range of program materials, for example manuals and handbooks.
