EL 1 ICT Service Manager

The Role

Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) is looking to recruit EL1 Service Managers for various ICT focused roles across the Organisation. We are looking for ICT professionals who have a user centric mindset that will ensure that the Defence workforce has technology they need to get their job done. The role is responsible for Service Management practices driving continuous improvements within the delivery of ICT Services and upskilling of its team members.

The main responsibilities of the role will be to:

  • Allocate work, resources and tasks, priorities, develop strategies and evaluate outcomes.
  • Measure, report, and analyse the performance and control level of our IT services, in line with the agreed service levels and within the internal and external boundaries.
  • Focus on ITIL-based service management processes such as incident, problem, and change management.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and strengthen customer relationships, reduce risk, design cost-effective processes and build a responsive and scalable ICT system.
  • Monitor progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), survey clients and solve problems.

Successful candidates will play a pivotal role in managing technology outcomes for Defence, overseeing service providers, and ensuring robust service provision.  You will provide fast and effective delivery of services and projects and transform the way we do business, leading to quality Defence outcomes.

We will be creating a merit pool to fill existing and future vacancies across CIOG and Defence over the next 18 months.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidates will display:

  • Experience in Service Management and how this supports business in a multi-vendor integrated environment.
  • People leadership skills with experience managing, motivating and developing a service management team.
  • Keen eye for operating efficiency to drive and deliver continuous lifecycle and service improvements, including new and existing services, to achieve efficiency across Defence technology platforms.
  • Exceptional customer service focus, including the ability to build and maintain successful internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to undertake leadership responsibilities in an ICT environment within a large, complex service delivery team.
  • Ability to develop and implement plans, strategies, policies, and procedures for the provision of ICT services that meets the workforce needs.
  • Ability to be forward thinking and be adaptable to rapid changing business requirements.
