Your Role
Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) is seeking APS 6 Service Managers who will take a hands-on approach to the daily operations of a Service Delivery Team. The aim of the role is to ensure stability, integrity and efficient operation of the network, infrastructure, and business applications.

You will work closely with Defence business areas and industry partners to ensure Defence ICT is secure, stable and fit for purpose. Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and address issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage workflows, measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
  • Control the acquisition, storage, distribution, movement and disposal of ICT assets.
  • Manage and maintain service compliance of assets in accordance with requirements.
  • Implement strategies, policies, and procedures for the provision of ICT services that meets the workforce needs.
  • Identify requirements to maintain or improve levels of service.
  • Apply knowledge of the system's functionality and organisational policies on external and internal client relationships.

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in managing technology outcomes for Defence, overseeing service providers, and ensuring robust service provision. You will provide fast and effective delivery of services and projects and transform the way we do business, leading to quality Defence outcomes.

We will be creating a merit pool to fill existing and future vacancies across CIOG and Defence over the next 18 months.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver and will want to develop their service management career further.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Service Management and how this supports business in a multi-vendor integrated environment.
  • Knowledge of ICT terminology.
  • A high-level of communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
  • The ability to liaise at all levels with a diverse range of suppliers and stakeholders, and develop written communications, reports and other documentation.
  • The ability to analyse information providing timely advice, guidance and recommendations to decision makers.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities, resources and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to use initiative, innovation and agility to ensure support to Defence strategic direction.
  • The ability to deal with organisational change in a proactive, positive and dynamic way.

Service management, contract management, some technical ICT knowledge, project management, procurement and/or financial management skills would be beneficial.
