The Local Government Association has added its voice to widespread concerns over projects now suspended in limbo, waiting for contracts from the Regional Development Australia Fund.

The LGA says there are dozens of projects which have been given some level of approval but not entirely signed-off by federal pens.

LGA South Australian president David O’Loughlin says he believes if the Coalition take power in the upcoming election that funding progress will be cut short.

“The Coalition have introduced a new fund and said they will not honour things that have been approved but not yet under contract and we're urgently chasing feedback from them... We really want to know if they're going to be cut if the Coalition win on Saturday or if they'll consider them in a new program,” Mr O’Loughlin said.

Regional development spokesperson for the Federal Opposition, Barnaby Joyce, says projects which have come a significant way will not be stopped; “If things are under a contractual process they'll be honoured,” he said.
