The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency 
NFIA is an operational unit of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, assisting and consulting foreign companies in the various stages of establishing, rolling out and expanding their international activities in the Netherlands.

General Characteristics

The Assistant Director (AD) is based at the Netherlands Consulate in Sydney and reports to the Executive Director (ED) NFIA Southeast Asia & Oceania (SEA&O) and contributes to NFIA’s SEA&O team (based in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Sydney).

Investment Projects

  • Identifies potential investors who consider establishing operations in Europe, and the Netherlands in particular (lead generation)
  • Compiles prospect lists, reaches out to qualified leads and arranges calls with potential investors.
  • Management & monitoring progress of ongoing investment projects in collaboration with the ED or Area Director Australia.
  • Maintains contact with existing client companies from the region for investor relation/account management purposes and reports on this.
  • Compiles market information, trends and developments within selected industry sectors.
  • CRM and database maintenance
  • Creates meeting preparation documents
  • Co-organization of incoming visits, participating in events and managing marketing activities to generate leads

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Works with the Area Director (responsible for regional marketing) in advising on Marketing & PR strategy and plans to fit the market
  • Proactively contributes to the Marketing and PR strategy and the co-creation of the content of the PR Tools and communication
  • Identifies relevant information for the NFIA regional social media accounts in coordination with the Area Director & Jr. Project Manager SEA&O
  • Joins economic meetings in Sydney, aiming to create synergy with other departments and re-enforce the bilateral economic relationship between Australia and the Netherlands.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be in possession of a work and residence permit for Australia to be considered
  • Working and thinking level: Bachelor or Masters degree
  • Experience level: 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with sales, account management and consultancy within a commercial company
  • Demonstrable ability to respond appropriately to different cultural norms
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Good commercial, social and communication skills
  • Written and verbal proficiency in answering questions
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining records
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • General knowledge of the Dutch economy and the Dutch investment climate will be a strong plus
  • Knowledge of the Dutch language will be a plus

Working environment

The AD is based at the Netherlands Consulate General in Sydney where the Consul-General is the head of mission and head of the economic team in Australia. The NFIA SEA&O team is managed by the Executive Director and consists of an Area Director and Junior Project Manager in Singapore and an Assistant Director in Kuala Lumpur. The NFIA works closely with other teams within the Economic Network and other departments at the Netherlands Embassies and Consulates in the SEA&O region. The AD is managed by and is accountable to the Executive Director, in cooperation with the Consul-General in Sydney.
