CSIRO’s Manufacturing Business Unit brings together multi-disciplinary scientific and engineering capabilities using world-class infrastructure to partner with industry in order to develop innovative products and processes to allow Australian manufacturers to be globally competitive and environmentally sustainable.

CSIRO’s Mechatronics Engineering team within the Devices and Engineered Systems program seek to recruit an Electronics Technical Officer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge sensor technologies under the able guidance of senior engineers within a very collaborative multi-disciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects through the layout and assembly of PCBs, testing of circuits and systems and fabrication of enclosures.

Your duties will include:

  • Plan, design and fabricate electronic devices and systems to support projects, under the guidance of project leaders.
  • Assist senior engineers in the development of cutting-edge sensor technologies.
  • Layout and assembly of printed circuit boards and make cables as required.
  • Fabricate instrument enclosures and fit components into them.
  • Test circuits and systems to ensure it meets the required specifications.
  • Prepare and operate equipment during field trials.
  • Perform a few non-routine analyses or technology development activities as required.

Location: Lindfield, Sydney
Salary: AU$66k - AU$84k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Indefinite / Full-time (or part-time is negotiable)

To be considered you will need:

  • A relevant trade certificate/diploma such as a TAFE Certificate IV or Diploma or equivalent relevant work experience in electronics and control or electronics and communications.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electronic circuit analysis with the ability to layout simple printed circuit boards
  • Possess good soldering technique with the ability to solder surface?mount components.
  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, adopt new techniques and a willingness to learn new processes.

Appointment to this role is also subject to obtaining and maintaining a security clearance at NV1 level.
