Chief Executive Officer

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia - Victorian Division (IPWEAvic) Ltd is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, providing member services and advocacy for those involved in the Victorian Public Works sector.  An exciting opportunity has arisen, at this critical time in the organisation's development, for a passionate industry professional to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Together with managing the organisation day to day, the incoming CEO will play a pivotal role in identifying and pursuing strategic business alliances and membership opportunities that will grow the organisation's reputation and membership base. The CEO will continue to advocate IPWEAvic as the reference point of choice by Government for advice on public works issues and technical information and ensure professional development opportunities for members and stakeholders are continuously enhanced. The CEO mandate also includes defining a new organisational structure, including creating and leading a "virtual" team of high profile sector volunteers.

The successful candidate is charismatic, persuasive and a naturally engaging leader with the ability to advocate, facilitate and build strategic partnerships. A practical background in infrastructure management is preferred, as is an understanding of the issues, challenges and opportunities facing the Public Works sector both in Victoria and across Australasia. Previous experience in a membership organisation and relevant tertiary qualifications will be well regarded. It is envisaged that the position will initially be undertaken part-time from a "mobile" office with a view to increasing to full time. Tenure, salary package, days and hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
