Senior Defence Portfolio Opportunities

There are several positions available within the Chief Finance Officer Group which supports the Minister, Secretary, Service Chiefs and Group Heads that cover the following activities:

• Developing and implementing the Defence Finance Systems Accounting Strategy.
• Coordinating financial activity controls for the system as a whole.
• Developing high quality costing policies and oversight of delivery of costing estimates.
• Implementing Government decisions through the Defence budget.
• Providing key financial and other management information to support Group Heads and Service Chiefs.

Successful applicants will join and lead an embedded shared service team and enjoy engaging with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the financial viability of Defence capability.

As a Branch Head you will be part of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group. You will be a leader who respects a diversity of ideas and perspectives. You will have responsibilities and accountabilities for delivering the First Principles Review within the framework of ‘One Defence’.

To be a strong contender, you will be a flexible and collaborative leader who is prepared to take calculated risks. You will be resilient, have proven high level communication skills and be personally accountable for the quality of advice and the delivery of results.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis.  To be eligible, an applicant must be, or intend to become, an Australian citizen.  These are security-designated positions.  The successful applicant may be required to undergo security assessments to the highest level.
