Senior Operations Officer

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for Senior Operations Officers to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. We are seeking candidates that have demonstrated experience leading business improvement projects by reviewing operational processes, identifying gaps and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance activities.

The Senior Operations Officer will take a pivotal role assisting with the design and implementation of the operational assurance program, and the development and maintenance of operational frameworks, policies, business process maps and procedures. As part of this, the role will support improving the accuracy, timeliness and presentation of workflows.

The successful candidate will need to possess strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when conducting internal quality assurance reviews, in order to identify trends, report findings and make recommendations. The candidate will also need strong organisational skills and be able to research and plan to manage multiple projects and tasks to meet desired business deadlines.

About the Group, Section and Team

The Senior Operations Officer role sits within the Operations section in Compliance Management Group (CMG). The Operations section provides workforce capability and capacity initiatives, workload and workflow management, operational process design, information management and technology support.

The Process and Assurance team is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, templates and assurance activities that support CMG to identify improvements and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review business/team requirements and identifying gaps and changes needed in existing documentation, supporting a continuous improvement culture
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of operational frameworks, policies, business process maps and procedures
  • Assist with the design and implementation of an operational assurance program within CMG to support continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular internal quality assurance reviews and drafting reports on the outcomes
  • Identify and provide meaningful feedback to CMG teams that promotes quality and/or consistency improvements
  • Identify trends from internal quality reviews to be incorporated into the report of findings and recommendations
  • Contribute to appropriate systems, procedures and controls to enhance the accuracy, timeliness and presentation of workflow

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT solutions, including the ability to learn and use new case management, project and/or reporting systems
  • Well-developed best practice research, planning and organisational skills while managing multiple projects/tasks
  • Experience in a regulatory environment (desirable)

Position eligibility
In addition to the above key candidate qualities, to be eligible for this position you must:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • satisfy a National Coordinated Criminal History Check

Merit Pool
A merit pool of suitable candidates may be created from this selection process. Suitable candidates placed on the merit pool may be contacted in relation to identical or similar vacancies on a non-ongoing and ongoing basis at the Commission, or the broader APS, within 18 months from the start date of this advertisement.

Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered with an initial engagement of up to 18 months, with one possible extension of up to 6 months (a total maximum contract period of 2 years).
